GETTING AROUND
ARRIVAL AND TRANSPORTATION
The international airport is Felix Houphouet Boigny Airport located in the commune of Port Bouet. Many airlines have direct flights to and from Côted’Ivoire. Scheduled flights to Abidjan from Europe include Air France; Royal Air Maroc; Tap Portugal, South African Airways; Corsair; Emirates; Brussels Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Tunis Air etc.
Scheduled flights to Abidjan from the United States include Ethiopian Airlines, AirSenegal and AirFrance.

It should be noted that participants have to arrange their own travel from their respective countries and local transportation to the hotel of their choice from the airport. Taxis are available at the airport.
Taxis in town
There are two types of taxis circulating in Abidjan: the orange taxis, which travel throughout the city, and “woroworo”, shared passenger cars, whose colors vary depending on the commune and are limited to particular neighborhoods. It is recommended that you limit yourself to orange taxis.

Taxi fare from the airport to most locations in Abidjan begins at around CFA 7,000 (i.e. EUR 10)
Taxis from Plateau to Cocody can average between CFA 2,000 and CFA 4,000 depending on the hour
Taxis within Coocdy can average between CFA 1,000 and CFA 2,500 depending on the hour
Buses and ferries
The “Société des transports abidjanais” (SOTRA) is the company that manages public urban transportation in Abidjan, mainly through its lines of buses and ferries. The SOTRA buses serve the ten communes of Abidjan. There are air-conditioned buses that it rents out to tourists or private groups. There are also two (2) other private companies for ferries: Aqualine and STL.
