Matteo Patrone is the Vice President, Banking at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). In this role, he oversees the effective delivery of the Bank’s investment and advisory activities in its operational countries and contributes to policy engagement activities.

Prior to this role, Matteo was the Managing Director for Eastern Europe and Caucasus, responsible for the EBRD’s operations and policy initiatives in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, and for leading the crisis response to the war in Ukraine.

With a career spanning 30 years, he has held senior positions in merchant banking, private equity, and management consulting. Matteo joined EBRD in 2008 as a senior banker and has since served in various leadership roles. Before EBRD, he was Managing Director of the private equity arm of Finanziaria Internazionale in Italy. He holds an MBA from INSEAD and an MS degree cum laude in Mechanical Engineering from Genoa University.
